Open Outdoors for Kids
In July, Great Basin National Park Foundation received a $27,000 grant from the National Park Foundation to help connect students throughout the Great Basin to their national park. In the first six months of the project, the grant has helped science learning come alive for 2,000 students and 77 classrooms. Great Basin National Park, which represents the diverse and amazing Great Basin, provides a remarkable learning laboratory for local and national students.
“Great Basin National Park Foundation education programs enable us to extend the ecology, geology, dark skies, and culture protected within the Park as learning and connection opportunities,” relates Great Basin National Park Superintendent Ashley Adams.
The Open OutDoors for Kids program is supported by the National Park Foundation, who is committed to ensuring that all youth benefit from our nation's national parks. The National Park Foundation is also partnering with Great Basin National Park Foundation on piloting new educational opportunities for middle and high school students on the Great Basin’s apex predator, the Great Basin mountain lion.
